About Budgewoi
Budgewoi is a suburb located on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia, it is located 78 km north of the Sydney central business district. Much of the town is surrounded by water; Lake Munmorah, Budgewoi Lake and the Pacific Ocean.
The last decade has seen an important change in Budgewoi with the influx of people bringing greater infrastructure and development to the suburb. We have seen significant growth in local amenities and with some local business completing major development saw the opening of a vibrant music venue’s supporting local and touring musical acts.
Boating, fishing and prawning are favourites of locals and visitors alike. Cafés, restaurants and fish & chip shops can be found scattered along the water's edge. Golden sandy beaches line the eastern side of the region that are popular with surfers as well as many patrolled area’s that are great for swimmers to enjoy a refreshing dip in the ocean.
Panoramic views of the Tuggerah Lakes system can be admired from Munmorah State Recreation Area. This 1500 ha National Park is home to a number of threatened wildlife species and also over 200 different native plant species attracting over 150 bird life species. Approx 1.6 km off the coast of Birdie Beach is Bird Island with steep vertical cliffs, an ideal and stunning habitat for seabirds to nest and roost.
